August 30, 1930 (Washington D.C.)

Harry J. Anslinger, Our Hero.

It seems at last someone has come to answer the fears gripping our nation. In reaction to the desperate fear over this new deadly and mind altering drug that as been sweeping the United States people, marijuana; a new bureau has been created called by the U.S. Treasury Department, the bureau is called the Federal Bureau of Narcotics (FBN). The FBN was created last June 14, 1930. Now though the head of this office is Harry J. Anslinger. Marijuana is killing our nation, driving people insane, and making teenagers its helpless victims.
In response to this horrible drug and other drugs that our plaguing our nation Anslinger has started an epic battle against marijuana. His stance is as quoted, “Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death.” His Public Service Announcements are helping keep teens off this drug and repel the jazz singers and other minorities from luring innocent Americans into the embrace of marijuana. Anslinger is going to be the hero our country needs by cracking down on these drug dealers and teaching the nation about this deadly drug. He has created his own files called the Gore Files. In these files news pages and papers are compiled over gruesome and horrible deaths, murders, and even rape that has occurred while the person was high on marijuana.
When the attacks from Mexican drug addicts surfaced, the country barley cared this new drug only effected the south states and even then the drug was only being used by minorities. Few thought that the drug would become this big and affect our nation this much. We didn’t think that the children would be using the drug and the effects seemed to be less drastic then now. Harry J. Anslinger says, “There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz and swing, result from marijuana usage. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers and any others.” Not only are drug dealers and peers pressuring people into taking this drug but entertainers are using this drug and by using the drug they support the drug. Anslinger is going to put the beat down on Marijuana.
The bureau also deals with heroin and opium of which sales have been growing as the country tries new drugs to escape from how the world is turning out, but even these are not as deadly as marijuana. The force is not as much on other drugs as it is on Marijuana. With all these drugs really becoming popular it is about time we had the Federal Bureau of Narcotics but even more important to have Harry J. Anslinger as our superhero drug fighter. This prohibition will help the nation. Just like with the prohibition of alcohol there will be those who will try and keep this illegal, dangerous substance on the streets and keep the people addicted. Harry Is determined not to let this happen. He and the Federal Bureau of Narcotics are attacking even the smallest drug use because any type of contact with this drug is bad. They are busting marijuana sellers and dealers. Even if you are just smoking the drug you will become arrested. So with all these horrible out comes the question becomes, what is the point of doing this drug? To become addicted? To go insane? To be raped? To go to Jail? Marijuana is not worth it and with Harry J. Anslinger, the hope that this drug can disappear from the United States and no longer find its way into innocent peoples hands, then we really do have a bright future as a country.

What’s the real harm?

As of today marijuana is still illegal. There are a few states in the United States that have ideas of making medicinal marijuana legal. These ideas are still underway and have a while to go. California is the first state to have medicinal marijuana legal in some parts. These people that can get the medicinal marijuana are people that have serious injuries that are still unhealed and other various pains as well can receive medicinal marijuana. Since the marijuana prohibition more studies have been done on the drug showing that the only harm is causes is that to the lungs from smoking. In fact the medical uses are astronomical and more states are opting to allow medical marijuana. Many people need the drug to survive some even die from their medical problem if they do not smoke it.
Many people today, even though marijuana is illegal, still smoke marijuana. Our county has left the ideals of “Reefer Madness” in the past, and no longer view marijuana as something that does much harm or something that should be an illegal drug. Many don’t even see it as a drug. From all the newly studies that have taken place, it is known that marijuana does not cause people to go crazy to the point of them killing people. It is also known that it doesn’t make you insane for the rest of your life. The recent studies have proved that marijuana does make it harder for people to focus and makes the brain work slower. It is not a good idea for children and teens that are in school to use this drug because it also pushes kids to lack on the amount of caring they do about their grades. Marijuana is also considered the “gate-way” drug, meaning this drug is where most people start but isn’t where they stop. They continue to explore the world of drugs and try other types of more dangerous drugs. These other drugs are most addicting and serious. After only trying them once they might be permanently addicted to them and from their they are a downward spiral. This isn’t fact that everyone that has smoked marijuana will end up this way, but its a possible and common route that some people take until they hit rehab and commit themselves to getting better.
On average about 30% of tenth graders have tried smoking marijuana. Smoking marijuana has become almost as popular as under aged drinking, it is in fact easier for kids to smoke then it is for them to drink because the product is readily available. Also when drinking there is a certain age required in order to purchase it so if a kid that was younger then that wanted alcohol they would have to find someone to agree to buy it. Since marijuana is illegal to all, when buying it people do not care what age you are. That means it cuts out the middle man and makes it easier.
Presently, many view smoking marijuana as an anxiety relaxer. This is a big reason many smoke it and continuously smoke it. Life has many stressful time periods and many worries. When people hit these time periods they turn to smoking cheap and easy to help them out. Marijuana has become very easy to find and get. Almost everyone knows someone that has marijuana for sale or they know someone that knows someone and with cellphones today it is really easy to send, text and call numbers to find just what someone is looking for.
Marijuana has become throughout history in the underground drug system. When buying, smoking and talking about marijuana the official name hardly ever used. The amount of slang names for the plant have increased these names vary from anything like pot, weed, tree, kush, ganja and the list goes on. People that smoke marijuana know most of these names and will switch between them when referring to marijuana.
So, what exactly is the harm of this drug? There isn’t any long term effects and it doesn’t have any addiction to it. Many would agree that smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol are worse for the body then simply picking up a joint of marijuana and smoking it. From that one joint there will be a few hours of temporary hallucination of fun and possibly extreme craving of food.

-funny, but seriously taken cartoon of what exactly marijuana does to someone.

Mexican Weed Of Madness

The Mexicans are here now in our country. As of April 1910, these dirty Mexicans have brought the drug of marijuana into the country. The Mexicans are responsible for this drug that makes people act crazy. We do not want nor need this in our country. Why are so many of them coming into the United States? This drug can cause you to see things and act in ways that may endanger another person.

Recently reported one Mexican man smoked some marijuana and went crazy, like seriously crazy. He started running around and killed a police officer and then seriously injured three other random men, for no reason. The marijuana got into his mind and caused it. Marijuana is dangerous. This can happen to anyone. Anyone could go that crazy, any one's mind can be taken over by marijuana.

The worries and concerns are rising, as more and more Mexicans come into the country. These people who are bringing it in are crazy people that are strongly advertising the pros of marijuana as they smoke it. These are the people that are receiving all the American jobs. The jobs in this country are made for loyal citizens that respect and want to continue making the country better. With the Mexicans taking all the jobs it leaves the rest of us out of jobs and looking for a new way to support families.
This drug is being brought into our countries. Our children are being peer pressured into taking this homicidal and insane drug. Things need to change; the drug needs to be taken care of before our whole country is addicted or dead because of the side effects of reefers. If we can’t keep the whole county off the drug how will we convince our impressionable younger generation that by smoking this cigarette type drug they are letting go of themselves and letting the drug take over. They could go just as mad as these Mexicans are and murder someone they love.
Boiling the seeds of a marijuana plant and using it to make tea is said to make one crazy for the rest of their life. Many of these people view this as something cool to do but that isn’t a chance someone should want to take nor is it something we want to fill our country with.
Marijuana looks like a cigarette but is deadly. When the drug is taken the user will loose control of their body and mind. Their whole personality will change; the drug user will think they are someone or something else. From recent reports done by the Palm Beach Post, people who have taken the drug many end up killing people close to them or just random people because this drug causes fits of intense rage. Other reports show that many people get this feeling that they are invincible and no what they are almighty to the point they could even fly. This has caused people on the drug to have self-injuries. When these injuries take place the drug is so relaxing that most does not feel the pain of the injuries. This isn’t a good thing. One could continue to do destructive things oneself without realizing it, which could cause serious and even fatal injuries to the body.
When this drug starts to wear off the pain then hits so hard to a point where one cannot stand it. This will cause one to crave more marijuana to smoke to not feel the pain or the pain will make them crazy. The cycle repeats over and over and once stuck in the cycle getting out of the cycle isn’t possible. One’s life will have already been taken over by marijuana.
What has our country come to? Is our country going to turn into a place full of crazy marijuana smokers with the spontaneous actions of possibly killing? This country will lose everything we have worked so hard to build up since the Revolutionary War. Something needs to be done about this; something needs to forbid these actions for the love of the country.
